What foot wear should be worn with Skikes?
Skikes can be used with most street or sports shoes. The best footwear is trainers with a think sold and a relatively high shaft.
-
How do these skates behave on wet roads?
You can use Skikes on wet roads. Naturally they do not stick as well as on dry roads. As the wheels have a tyre like a town bicycle, they behave on roads the same way as bicycles.
-
Are there any weight restriction for Skikes like other roller skis?
There are no weight restrictions for Skikes.
-
Do you need sticks for using the Skikes?
It is not strictly necessary to use sticks with Skikes. However if you use sticks you will improve your training as the upper body is developed as well. Sticks also provide a push to get you going quicker. As Nordic walking sticks are not the right length, we recommend the Nordic Blading Sticks e.g. article number 2099907.
-
Do the Skikes® come with back stop brakes?
There are additional back stop brakes available for the wheels.
-
How do the brakes work?
The Skike® Cross Skater's brakes work on the principle of leaning back. A wedge puts pressure on the rear wheel.
-
Is it possible to take curves the same as if skiing or roller blading on the cross skaters?
The movement technique is similar to skating technique in cross country skiing. You take corners by staggering the skater (similar to roller blading or cross country skiing).
